The Martin Thomas Library of Film

We have named our film library in memory of our very good friend and founding member of Buxton Film, Martin Thomas, who sadly died in 2017. Martin not only made sure that all the films acquired for screening made it to the library but he also left his extensive collection of over 400 films to us.

There are now over 1200 titles in the library and to help us keep them organised we’ve invested in some software that makes it easy to search and arrange them in any way that you wish. The link to the library is at the bottom of this page.

How to re-arrange the list

After clicking on the Film Library button at the bottom of this page you will be taken to a page similar to the one below.

You can arrange the films according to their year, director, format and many other aspects by clicking on the “folder” icon in the top left of the screen. To look at more details for any film (including the trailer), click on its title panel.

The number in the yellow box in the corner of each film panel is its IMDB score. We have not given our films a rating so all films will be marked 0* when you get to the detailed section for any film.

Once you have chosen the film you wish to borrow, click on the ‘Borrow’ link below and follow the instructions on that page.

Please be aware that you are welcome to borrow films for your own personal use but they must not be used for public screenings or other events where copyright restrictions apply. We normally hope that you will donate £1 per film borrowed. You can pay us in batches if you borrow regularly – either in cash or directly into our bank account by BACS: BUXTON FILM, 08-92-99, 67247770.

Films that are not in the list are not available even if we have previously screened them as they may have been loaned to us by the distributors.

It appears that on some configurations the ‘borrow’ button above does not work. If that is the case please use this link.
